Pommella Wegmann was elected president of the Southeast Minnesota Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO in January 2020. From 2017-2020, Wegmann worked as the Minnesota AFL-CIO Field Director overseeing grassroots field programs for electoral, legislative, and issue advocacy campaigns for union members across the state. She previously managed political and legislative programs with the Iron Workers International union office in Washington, DC and across the Midwest. She lives in Zumbrota and is a member of the Communication Workers of America.

Wegmann is active in the DFL party and is one of four elected Democratic National Committee members from Minnesota. She grew up in Bellevue, Iowa and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, earning dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Studies and Spanish. Wegmann was inspired to join the Labor Movement during the "Wisconsin Uprising" in 2011 when an anti-labor governor and legislature stripped public sector workers of collective bargaining rights.
